| OK YES it does have an overheating problem, use a cooling pad or reduce the brightness on your screen and you will be fine. It shuts does by itself only if it is overheating, and boy is that a good thing, otherwise you would end up with a melted laptop.... So once you get the hang of how to control the overheating issue, it is a great laptop, especially for the price, I paid $340 NIB. Good specs, fast, versatile, webcam is great, shortcuts are nice, will need a memory upgrade if you run multiple programs like I do, but at max it was handling a virtual environment with photoshop pro running and multiple browsers up on the actual environment, all at the same time, not too shabby. No other problems thus far (12 months). Oh and the battery will last about 2 hours, you can play with your power settings to get it to last longer, or just get another battery...... |

| This is a nice powerful computer, but... battery life is minimal, and i you are running intensive apps such as video, your laptop will overheat and shut-off. |

| I got this last year as a Black Friday special and never really got it going until after Christmas. It has been nothing but a slow computer, poor customer service from Gateway, and an overall money pit to try to get it running. It has been "in the shop" more than working! Each time, I had to debate wheterh it may be more cost effective to suck up the loss and just get a new computer. Luckily I have a sister-in-law who has helped me out tremedously with taking the time to call for the horrible customer service from Gateway. It is noisy, it overheats easily-to the reviewer who said to get a cooling pad--this would be the only laptop I have every needed one for! It oculd double as a space heater! Sad, it was my first and likely last Gateway computer. |
